Branko Kolarić SDP candidate for mayor of Zagreb

President of Zagreb’s SDP Branko Kolarić will be the party’s candidate for mayor of Zagreb in the local elections in May, while the candidates for deputy mayors are Boris Lalovac and Sara Medved, the SDP City Committee confirmed on Thursday evening.

“By the decision of the City Committee, as of today I am a candidate for mayor. Candidates for additional mayors are Boris Lalovac and Sara Medved,” said Kolarić Hini after the session.

The SDP welcomes the local elections on the wave of good results in the capital achieved in the past parliamentary, European and presidential elections, Kolari pointed out, adding that his professional team knows how to implement important policies.

“I would like to remind you that with me is the candidate for deputy mayor Boris Lalovac, the former finance minister who solved the agony of loans in the ‘Swiss’ for many citizens and will be an extremely important support for the good financial management of Zagreb. as an economic center, and for the benefit of citizens,” he said.

As a doctor, he said, he will insist on building a new hospital in Novi Zagreb. If he becomes mayor, among his priorities will also be affordable housing for young people, the construction of homes for retirees and hospices and health centers.

“Improving the overall quality of life in Zagreb should be increased through significant investments in infrastructure related to transport, ecology, energy, public transport, healthcare, but also through large strategic projects that determine the future of Zagreb’s development.” , said SDP’s mayor candidate.

As for the list for the City Assembly, it is customary for the candidate for mayor to be the holder, and the candidates for deputy mayors to take the second and third place. But Kolarić notes that this decision has yet to be adopted by the city organization.

Other candidates for the Assembly will be presented soon, and it is possible that there will be members of other parties from the center to the left.

“We contacted HSS and BUZ (Pensioners Together Block), and recently the Green Alternative – Orah joined our representative club. We will still talk, the real negotiations are just starting,” said the president of the city’s SDP and.

In the elections in May, the SDP will defend Zagreb from “superficial activist policies and from those who would return it to serious corruption,” he asserted.

“Soon we will come out with a draft of the pre-election program that we will test with citizens, listen to their needs, ask them what they are missing and then possibly correct it. We have already started in some city districts, in Utrini and New Zagreb,” he announced.

Kolarić emphasized that the party has been preparing for the election match for the last two years, since he became acting president of SDP Zagreb, and in November last year he was elected president.

“Research has shown that as a SDP team, we have significant support among citizens, and I believe that we are capable of shaping the future of the city,” said Kolari.
