“The war would never have started if I had been president. Putin would never have invaded Ukraine if I had been there. Now there are cities destroyed, many more dead than people say,” Trump said, reiterating concepts already expressed.

“I don’t think about economic effects, I don’t talk about economics. The war must end to avoid further loss of life. It’s real carnage. We must stop this war,” he said. “Hopefully China can help stop the war between Russia and Ukraine,” he added, citing the “levers” that Beijing has at its disposal to stop the conflict. “Ukraine is ready to do an agreement.
