The NA Head Committee approved the EU membership project of RA

The head committee of the Parliament gave a positive conclusion to the legislative initiative “On the start of membership of the European Union”, after the approval of the National Council, it will be included in the agenda of the next four-day meeting.

Before the voting, Elinar Vardanyan, deputy of the opposition “Hayastan” faction, announced that they will not participate in the voting.

“I have an honor” was not present in the discussion in general.

On January 9, the government approved the draft law on the initiation of the process of Armenia’s accession to the European Union. Its authors are the members of the western “Eurovote”. In order to introduce the bill to the National Assembly, they collected 60,000 signatures, more than the 50,000 required by law, until November.

Moscow responded on the same day, declaring at the level of the deputy prime minister that they consider this as the beginning of the exit from the Eurasian Economic Union and that they will develop the economic policy towards Yerevan taking this into account.
