After the ceasefires: the countries of the world lift the travel warning from Israel

After tightening travel warnings to Israel during the war, many countries have recently begun to update and ease warning levels. These updates, which came as a result of talks and diplomatic efforts led by the Minister of Foreign Affairs Gideon Sa’arhelp to improve tourism and business traffic between Israel and the world, even in a complex period where security challenges still exist.

The countries and updates

In recent weeks, Italy, Canada, China, Japan, Taiwan, Brazil, the Netherlands, Denmark and the United Kingdom updated their travel warnings to Israel, and reduced the warning levels, especially in central areas such as Tel Aviv and Jerusalem.

The measures include a transition from strict warnings, such as a call to avoid all travel, to targeted recommendations or caution in non-essential travel only. Accordingly, several international airlines announced the resumption of their flights to Israel. This step is expected to lead to increased competition in the aviation market, increase the availability of flights and reduce prices for the Israeli consumer.

The moves that led to the changes

Many countries decided to update the travel warnings after an intensive diplomatic process on the part of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, led by Minister Gideon Sa’ar. During the last few weeks, Sa’ar hosted his counterparts from the various countries, including Denmark, the Netherlands and Great Britain, and activated existing diplomatic relations with other countries, and the reduction of the severity of the travel warnings by many countries decreased.

Canada lowered the severity of the warning from level four (the highest) to level three – avoiding non-essential travel. (With the exception of Iosh and the Gaza Strip which remained at the highest level).

Taiwan was lowered from red to yellow, except for the territory of the State of Israel along the border, and in Brazil the Ministry of Foreign Affairs eased the travel warning from “strongly urges not to visit Israel” to “recommends avoiding an unnecessary visit to Israel”, similar to Canada.

In the Netherlands the warning was updated positively. In the past all regions of the State of Israel were red and now they are divided into red and orange. The state’s current recommendation is to avoid non-essential travel to Israel (orange) and to avoid any travel to the border areas (red).
