The Houthis said they intend to release dozens of captives they captured.

The Houthis, who control most of Yemen, have said they intend to release dozens of captives they have captured as a “humanitarian gesture.”

Earlier this week, the Houthis released the crew of the merchant ship Galaxy Leader, which was captured on November 19, 2023. The crew consisted of 34 people, among whom were citizens of Bulgaria, Ukraine, the Philippines, Romania and Mexico.

Galaxy Leader was sailing from Egypt to India under the flag of the Bahamas. The ship belonged to a British shipping company, one of whose owners is Israeli businessman Rami Unger. On this basis, the ship was declared Israeli.
