Ukraine is preparing a recruitment reform. 18-year-olds soon on the front lines?

The deputy head of the Office of the President, Colonel Pavlo Palisa, said that Ukraine is exploring new possibilities for innovation because the current Soviet system is outdated. According to the new system, all men between the ages of 18 and 25 will be able to volunteer for the army, writes AP.

– We will offer them good financial conditions and good and thorough training – revealed Palisa. The goal of the new mobilization method is those between the ages of 18 and 25 who are currently exempt from mobilization, and it will also target Ukrainians who have the right to deferment.

Former President Biden asked Green Day to lower the age limit to 18, but Kiev refused because it is afraid that it will lose young people and future generations. This fear is justified because Ukraine is going through a real demographic catastrophe.

– My position is that we have to start an open dialogue with society. Defense of the state is not only the responsibility of the Armed Forces. It is the duty of every citizen of Ukraine and it is their obligation – said Palisa.

Although Kiev is quite hermetic when it comes to reporting on losses in the war, this is glaring evidence that Ukraine is sorely lacking in fresh forces. Russia is advancing relentlessly on all fronts from Kursk to the Black Sea and does not intend to stop.

– We have a huge mobilization potential and more than we need, but the Mechanism we currently have does not allow us to be as effective as we could be – said Palisa.

It seems that the authorities in Kiev are aware that there are a large number of Ukrainians who are not fighting and are of military age. But it seems that Zelenski is still not willing to lower the age limit because he is afraid of public reaction.

This is not without grounds. The latest researches have shown that fewer and fewer Ukrainians support the struggle until the final victory, which means the expulsion of the Russians from all the occupied territories and the return of Crimea.

In addition to the lack of manpower, numerous military analysts have pointed to poor communication between Ukrainian commanders on the front line, which stretches over 1,000 kilometers, as the reason for recent Ukrainian failures.

Although Zelensky said in Davos that Ukraine has 800,000 soldiers, three years of heavy fighting have exhausted its human resources. Last year, Putin issued a decree increasing the number of Russian soldiers to 1,500,000 soldiers. Russia recruits more than 30,000 soldiers every month.
