Lukashenko tends his hand to the opposition after voting in the presidential belloruseials as an indisputable favorite

“I do not care if the EU recognizes or not the elections,” says the president, who reiterates his will to dialogue with Brussels

The president of Belarusia, Alexander Lukashenko, has deposited this Sunday his vote in an election he appears as an indisputable favorite to revalidate three decades of mandate while rejected Western criticism, which denounces the crushing of the opposition and the manipulation of the electoral process in favor of the leader.

“It gives me absolutely the same if the European Union is recognized or not by these elections. What matters to me is that the berorrues do,” said Lukashenko shortly after at a press conference before the country’s and international media.

However, Lukashenko has reiterated his will to dialogue with Brussels – although the European authorities have denounced in unison as a “farce” the celebration of these elections and consider the country as a vassal of Russia and complicit in their war against Ukraine – as long as they admit the terms of the conversation agreed with Belarus.

“If they respond to our proposal on the willingness to dialogue, we are willing to dialogue with the European Union, even with those who apply an aggressive policy against us,” said the president at the press conference, collected by the official news agency Belta .

In his appearance, President Belaruso has also assured that “not a single political party has been censored” and has exhibited his will to bring his hand to the rival candidate and independent deputy Anna Kanopatskaya, considered the most forceful voice against the president. “A woman who, when she criticizes, does so in a civilized way, not as in other places,” Lukashenko valued.

“We are in the only country of post-ovietic space that has ever held any game,” added Lukashenko, who has confirmed that his first official visit if he wins the elections will be to Moscow, where he will comment on the electoral process with his Russian counterpart, Vladimir Putin.
