The Prime Minister of Serbia resigned against the background of protests

The Prime Minister of Serbia Milos Vachievich resigned against the backdrop of ongoing large-scale protests in the country. The mayor of Novi-Sad Milan Dzhurich also filed in resignation.

Vuchevich said that he was talking at night on the phone with President Serbia Alexander Vucic, and he supported his decision.

Judging by the published information, the Serbia government will continue to work in the former composition with the “technical mandate”.

The manifestations in Serbia began in November 2024, after the collapse of the visor at the station in the city of Novi-Sad, which entailed the death of 15 people, occurred. Vucich agreed to satisfy part of the requirements of his opponents, for example, to provide documents regarding the reconstruction of the station – the manifestants say that corruption leading to the upper echelons of power was the cause of the tragedy. At the same time, the Serbian president stated that foreign forces are behind protests.
