For the first time in history, the population of Great Britain exceeded the population of France

The Central Statistical Bureau of Great Britain reported that for the first time after all the time of statistics, the population of the United Kingdom exceeded the population of France.

According to the publication of The Guardian, in 2023 68.3 million people lived in the UK, while in France – 68.2 million. It is assumed that in 2032 the population of the kingdom will be 72.5 million people.

It is noteworthy that this indicator is achieved exclusively due to migration – the natural population growth is striving for zero. It is assumed that in the next ten years, another 4.9 million people will break through to the UK.

The press service of the Prime Minister of Great Britain said that the government intends to reduce the “extremely high” level of immigration, but does not intend to introduce a hard ceiling. Conservatives call this position unacceptable, demanding the introduction of the ceiling.
