The first evacuations of patients and wounded from Gaza through the passage of Rafá will start this Saturday

The authorities of the Gaza Strip, controlled by the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas), have confirmed this Friday that the evacuation of patients and injured from the enclave through the passage of Rafá, on the border with Egypt, will start during the day This Saturday.

The Gazatí Health Ministry has indicated in a statement published in its Telegram account that “the first group of patients and injuries will travel on Saturday, February 1, 2025 through the land passage of Rafá”, within the framework of the Alto El Fuego with Israel, in force since January 19.

Thus, he stressed that he will contact patients and companions on the phone to “manage travel procedures, in line with the list approved by the parties involved”, before confirming that the process will have the collaboration of the World Health Organization ( WHO).

In this way, the Paso will reopen for medical evacuations for the first time since May 2024, when the Israeli army launched a land offensive in the area that implied the closure of the crossing, key to the delivery of humanitarian aid in the strip.
