At the request of the Latvian authorities, Norwegian police have arrested the Silver Dania ship with the Russian staff on suspicion of damaging the underwater communication cable.
According to the official sources of Norway, law enforcement is conducting searches in Silver Dania, which was navigated between St. Petersburg and Murgansk, a Norwegian legal entity.
The Executive Director of Silver Sea denies suspicions of the ship’s actions.
The damage to fiber optic cable in the Baltic Sea was announced on January 26. The cable connects the city of Latvia to Ventspiers and the island of Swedish. The Swedish Prosecutor’s Office has launched an investigation into the “large-scale sabotage” and detained the Vezhen ship suspected of being involved in the incident.
According to Vesselfinder, the ship left the Russian port-Lugue port a few days ago and was located in the same hours between Vertand and Latvia, when the communication cable was supposed to be damaged.
