The Tbilisi court extended the detention of an Azerbaijani journalist for another 3 months

The Tbilisi court extended the detention of Azerbaijani journalist Afghan Sadigov for three months. It is reported that the court rejected his precautionary measure in exchange for pledge. A group of Georgian journalists submitted a motion to such a request.

Sadigov’s wife, Sevinj Sadiogova told Turan that her husband has been on hunger strike for 133 days.

“In recent weeks, he has given food and vitamins to prevent the risk of blood sugar,” said the journalist’s wife, adding that Afghan Sadiogov’s weight in recent months has reached 54.

Last weeks, the ECtHR obliged the Georgian authorities not to assize Sadigov until Azerbaijan had a final decision on its criminal case.
