The Philippines arrested about 100 suspects on online

Filipino officials raided online frauds in Manila, arrested about 100 suspects, related to the usury and insulting and threatening loans.

Agent from the Anti -Crime Committee of the Philippines President (PAOCC) and the Philippine National Investigation Agency, equipped with a rifle, January 31 raid two offices of a loan company in The city of Makati, the capital of Manila, arrested about 100 suspects working on the computer.

The suspects, including many Philippine young people, were accused of searching for victims through Tiktok and other social networks, inviting non -mortgaged loans up to 25,000 peso ($ 428).

The borrower is charged 35% of the weekly interest rate and the late payment will be harassed, insulted and threatened to spread personal information online, according to PaOCC Gilberto Cruz.

“Some harassed people have mental problems, many people suffer from depression and even suicide,” Cruz said.

According to PAOCC director, suspects may be charged with fraud and other violations under the Philippine’s cyber criminal law. He said the suspects asked the victim to provide personal and family photos, then use this information to threaten. Some victims were also sent to coffins and mourning wreaths to their home.

According to Cruz, officials are checking the nationality of the company owners. He added in previous raid campaigns, officials who arrested Chinese suspects. He doubted that the owners of this fraud center were the remnants from the online game fraud group that was banned by President Ferdinand Marcos last year.

“The scary thing is that the Filipino is harassing and cheating the Filipino itself,” Cruz said.
