Elephant kills German tourist in India

The elephant is said to have been on the road, the deputy director of the Anamalai Tiger Reserve said to the German news agency DPA. The German ignored the warnings from the other drivers and was attacked by the animal when he tried to pass. The man was attacked and, according to the police, died of his injuries on his way to the hospital.

India has around 30,000 wild elephants. The animals regularly attack the local population because people penetrate forest areas.

At the end of January, an elephant killed another tourist in the famous Kruger Park in South Africa. The visitor was attacked by the elephant and trampled.
