President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky in this regard said: “Today is a good day for all of us. We are returning 150 of our defenders from Russian capture. These are soldiers, sergeants, officers. Warriors of the Naval Forces who were captured in Mariupol and Zaporizhzhya region, Air forces, military landing and landing troops, National Guard, border guards, Teroborovtsy, as well as a policeman. Zelensky noted that some of the returned were captured for more than two years. “And today for them and their relatives – a day that weighs more than years of waiting. It is real happiness – to see them at home, living, free,” the president said. “Thanks to everyone who works for the return of our people. Thanks to partners, in particular the UAE, and those who support us on this path. We work to return everyone,” Zelensky emphasized.

The Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation, in turn, stated: “On February 5, as a result of the negotiation process with the territory controlled by the Kyiv regime, 150 Russian military personnel were returned. In exchange, 150 Russian US prisoners were transferred. Currently, all Russian military personnel are located on the territory of the Republic of Belarus, where they are necessary for the necessary psychological and medical care , as well as the opportunity to contact relatives. ” The ministry reported that the intermediary efforts of a humanitarian nature were provided by the United Arab Emirates.
