An unusual earthquake in Greece threatens Israel in Tsunami

In Israel, the possibility of a tsunami on a concern for a large earthquake expected in Greece is reported, so reported in Walla. In close proximity to the Santorini Islands group in Greece, over 2,000 earthquakes occurred in the past week, about dozens of significantly, in a magnitude of 4.5 or more. Between them, 5.3 was measured on Tuesday (Tuesday).

The event that takes place in Greece is unusual in its characteristics and Greece are already taking exceptional steps. About 9,000 people have already left the main island, the education systems closed in the threatened areas and guidelines for population regarding the avoidance of audiences, emptying pools in hotels and more. The Foreign Ministry is already considering whether to take a trip to the area, in light of a possible natural disaster event. Such a warning has not yet been given.

Expert estimates have determined that the tremors are tectonical and non -volcanoes, and past experience indicates that small tremors can earn a strong earthquake. Such a tremor can also throw on the State of Israel in the aspects of a tsunami wave.

Given the closeness of the State of Israel to the tremors, only about 900 km, the assessment of the warning time for a tsunami wave from a strong quake is up to two hours.

Yesterday, the Deputy Head of the NCO convened an urgent discussion on the matter, under which the various emergency and government ministries were laid in which the National Security Ministry, the IDF, the Israel Police, the Foreign Ministry and more, and more, that the State of Israel may encounter a tsunami wave. It is estimated that the Ministry of Energy is prepared as much as possible to damage electricity production infrastructure, implicit implications in desalination facilities and evacuation of employees.

The Ministry of National Security and the Israel Police, as a cause of disaster, was placed to have an orderly inter-organizational assessment, which will lift the entire system. The Israeli police were asked to define areas with rear conventional areas to the situation that civilian assistance forces should be operated.

Israel is also preparing for a possible expected mission – in a situation where an earthquake will occur that will not drag tsunami toward Israel: a request for the assistance of the Greek government. If this is the case, a dedicated state assessment will be held to operate an overseas delegation mechanism.
