Behind the move: revenge and accusations
In an interview with New York Post, Trump particularly attacked Belinka, claiming that he was behind “the dirty letter of the 51” (“The Dirty 51”)-a document signed by 51 former intelligence officials. The letter, published on the eve of Elections 2020, claimed that the publications about Hitar Biden’s laptop, the son of Joe Biden, are part of a Russian dysignist operation. “This is a bad man. Take the security permits from him,” Trump said of Belinka. Regarding Biden, Trump justified his decision by saying: “I do not trust him. He is not worthy of trust … for the security of the state.”
Trump has revealed a list of eight other democratic rivals he intends to deny their security classification. Among the destinations: New York’s General Plaintiff, Latish James, and Manhattan District Attorney Elvin Brag, who conducted legal cases against Trump, as well as Lisa Monaco, the former general plaintiff, who was involved in coordinating Justice Department’s actions in relation to the attack on the capitol at 6 January 2021.
The practical meaning
Lawyer Bob Costlo, a former Manhattan Federal prosecutor, explained to New York Post that the move against the plaintiffs from New York is “more insult and a slap in the animal than a real deterrent.” However, the step can make it difficult for them to perform their duties by preventing them from entering federal facilities, including courts in the lower Manhattan, prisons and FBI offices.
A wide -ranging vengeance and transferently breaking tradition
Trump’s last step joins a series of similar decisions he has made since his entry into his second term. Among other things, he canceled the personal security and security classification of John Bolton, the National Security Adviser from Trump’s previous closet, which has since become the president’s acute critic; Of Dr. Anthony Fuchi, who led the fight in the Corona epidemic, and of Mike Pompeo, former Secretary of State.
Traditionally, former presidents gain access to intelligence trails, for the sake of being able to advise presidents for national security and foreign policy – makes sense.
However, as early as 2021 Biden took a similar step when he ruled the security classification from Trump following January 6. Consequently, to Trump, such a negation is a legitimate thing, as he says to New York Post: “He – Biden – set this precedent in 2021.”
