Arrival of the US Secretary of State to the Middle East this week

This week is expected to start the visit of US Secretary of State Marco Rubio to the countries of the Middle East. The State Department clarified that he would visit Israel, Saudi Arabia and the UAE on February 15-18.

Rubio will leave Munich to the Middle Eastern region, where he will participate in a conference on security and ministerial meeting G7.

Earlier, the US State Department stated that Rubio plans to visit the countries of the Middle East from February 13 to 18. At the same time, in addition to the above states, Qatar was also indicated. But, apparently, the plans of the Secretary of State were adjusted.

Obviously, one of the central topics that will have to comment on Rubio will be the plan of US President Donald Trump for the resettlement of residents of Gaza.

Marco Rubio was already trying to “lower the degree” of discussions on this subject, explaining that Trump was talking about a temporary relocation. He also stated that Trump is looking for support for the restoration of gases from countries that “have both economic and technological capabilities,” apparently referring to the rich Arab states of the Persian Gulf.

It should be noted that the first foreign trip Rubio as Secretary of State was a visit to Latin America. Thus, the priorities of the new head of the American Foreign Ministry were marked.
