Another Kurdish mayor in Turkey is dismissed

In Turkey, the 9th Kurdish mayor is dismissed “due to the alleged ties with the terrorist organization.” The Ministry of Internal Affairs stated this.

Van Mayor Abdullah Zeydan is a Kurdish Dem party, which is the third largest force in the Turkish parliament. In the local government elections, Zeidan received 55 percent of the vote.

After the local elections in March 2024, 11 mayors were fired on various accusations in Turkey. Instead of them, the government has appointed acting acting. 9 out of Kurdish Dem party, 2, are from the leading opposition force, the People’s Republican Party.
