Gaza: Who are the three Israeli hostages released by Hamas this Saturday?

The truce is fragile but still stands. Hamas proceeded this Saturday at the release of three Israeli hostages against Palestinian prisoners, thus respecting the terms of the agreement signed with the Hebrew State on January 19. One of them was held by Islamic jihad. They are Sasha Trupanov (29), Sagi Dekel Chen (36) and Yair Horn (46). Here are their portraits.

Sasha Trupanov

Sasha Trupanov is a 29-year-old Russian-Israeli. On October 7, 2023, he was removed from Nir Oz, one of the most bruised Kibbutz by the unprecedented attack in Hamas on Israeli territory. His partner, Sapir Cohen, as well as his mother and grandmother had also been kidnapped by the Palestinian Islamist movement that day. They were all released in November 2023, during the first ceasefire in the Gaza Strip. The father of the hostage, Vitali Trupanov, was murdered that day.

Unlike the other two hostages released on Saturday, Sasha Trupanov was held by Islamic jihad. The terrorist organization broadcast four video extracts from the Russian-Israeli during its sixteen months of detention. Last November, she published a video in which the young man addressed Arié Dery, the leader of the ultra -backodox party Shass. The broadcasting of these images had caused a strong reaction from the Kremlin, which had called for “immediate and without conditions” of civilians selected in captivity.

Sagi Dekel Chen is also from Nir Oz. On October 7, he was one of the first inhabitants of Kibbutz to see the armed men of Hamas enter Israeli territory and to approach the dwellings. The 36 -year -old man, who also owns American nationality, hastened to prevent the rest of his community and shelter.

But all his efforts were not enough. His mother, 63 -year -old Neomit was captured by Hamas in a cart. TSAhal soldiers have shot the vehicle from a helicopter, injuring the driver, and allowing Neomit to find his loved ones.

Sagi Dekel Chen is the father of two little girls. At the time of Hamas’ attack, his wife was seven months pregnant. On Saturday, he will find his family after sixteen months of detention in the Gaza Strip.

Yair Horn

Like the other two hostages that must be released on Saturday, Yair Horn was abducted from Nir Oz. He was kidnapped with his little brother Eitan, who had come to visit him for Shabbat. They are from Argentina and then made their Alyah, the act of immigration to Israeli land for a Jew.

Yair Horn, now 46, was strongly involved in the life of Nir Oz, according to our colleagues from Times of Israel. In Kibbutz, this man known for his sympathy and his joie de vivre organized parties, activities, but also vacation departures for the inhabitants. He also managed the Kibbutz bar.

Ohad Yahalomi and the Bibas family still absent from the list

After the release of these three hostages on Saturday, there will only be fourteen released hostages in the first phase of the truce between Israel and Hamas. Among them are Ohad Yahalomi, the last Franco-Israeli detained in Gaza, and three members of the Bibas family, whose fate worries the Hebrew state. All four were announced dead by Hamas and their allies, but Tsahal has never confirmed this information.

In addition, a spokesperson for the Israeli government has announced that eight of the liberal hostages have died, without specifying their identities. There are therefore only six detainees who should go out alive in the Gaza Strip by the end of February.

If Sasha Trupanov, Sagi Dekel Chen and Yair Horn are well released on Saturday, there will only be 14 hostages, alive or dead, which should leave the Gaza strip by the end of the first phase of the break. Here they are:

  • Women and children: KFIR Bibas, Arel Bibas, Shiri Bibas.
  • Men over 50: Ohad Yahalomi, Shlomo Mansour (Announced dead by his Kibbutz on February 11), ELGERT, Oded Lifshitz.
  • Men aged under 50: Tzachi Idan, Elia Cohen, Omer Vankert, Tal Shoham, Omer Shemtov, Hisham Al-Sayed, Avera Mengistu.
