Selenskij gives a clear rejection of peace solution without Ukraine

The Ukrainian President Wolodymyr Selenskij made it clear that he would not accept a peace solution if his country is not involved in the talks. When asked whether he could accept a deal that was negotiated without Ukraine, Selenskij said in the interview of the US broadcaster NBC: “No!”.

Ukraine needs security guarantees. “Words are not enough,” he said. Such a guarantee could be the membership of his country in NATO. This would be the cheapest solution for all sides.

USA does not believe in future NATO membership

US defense minister Pete Hegseth Had said in the past week that the United States did not believe that NATO membership for Ukraine was a realistic result of a negotiation solution. Also President Donald Trump had commented similarly.

“If we don’t get security guarantees, I think that an economic agreement does not work. Everything has to be fair,” said Selenskij. In his view, Russia’s access to the mineral resources in Ukraine would be dangerous. Rare earths could not only be used for mobile phones or electric cars, but also for the construction of rockets.

Without strong guarantees, a Russian return to Ukraine threatens, said Selenskij. There are intelligence information that Russia carries out training measures for 150,000 soldiers, especially in the field of Belarus. “At the moment, knowing that he could not take us, don’t know where he wants to go. There are risks that this could be Poland or Lithuania, because we believe that Putin will wage war against NATO.”
