Israel wants a complete demilitarization of the Gaza Strip

Israeli Foreign Minister said the country wanted a complete demilitarization of the Gaza Strip, not accepting Hamas or any armed group present here.

During the press conference on February 18, Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Saar said it would start negotiating phase of the ceasefire agreement at the Gaza Strip, after delaying from February 3.

“The negotiation will take place this week,” Mr. Saar said. “Israel does not accept any scenario that the groups at the Gaza Strip are still armed. We do not agree to the Hezbollah model in the Gaza Strip, so the demilitarized demilitarized zone.”

According to Foreign Minister Saar, Israel knew that Arab countries were planning another plan for the Gaza Strip to oppose President Donald Trump’s proposal on regional reconstruction under the US control.

Mr. Saar declared that Israel did not support the Hamas script to transfer civil control activities in Gaza to the Palestinian government. “We do not want the presence of the Palestine government in Gaza,” the foreign minister emphasized.

The Israeli army in October 2023 opened a campaign against the Gaza Strip to retaliate against Hamas’s attack. The ceasefire agreement by Qatar, Egypt, the United States acted in three stages, took effect on January 19, ending for more than a year of war here.

In the first phase lasting 42 days, Hamas dropped 33 hostages including women, the elderly, and injured in exchange for about 1,900 Palestinian prisoners being detained by Israel. Up to now, a total of 19 Israeli hostages have been released, in return, Tel Aviv releases 1,100 Palestinian prisoners.

The second phase is expected to include all the hostages of alive, permanently ceasefire and Israel withdraw troops completely from Gaza.

President Trump repeatedly proposed to bring all Palestinians leaving Gaza to neighboring countries while the United States will take over, rebuild Gaza and turn the land into a resort. Israel praised Mr. Trump’s idea while many Middle Eastern countries protested.
