The RA Constitution was spoken out in Baku on the Human Rights Council

“At the moment, we expect Armenia to overcome the main obstacle to the settlement process, legally refusing to Azerbaijan’s territorial claims,” ​​Azerbaijani Deputy Foreign Minister Elnur Mammadov stated at the UN Human Rights Council.

Yerevan has repeatedly claimed that there is no territorial claims against its neighbors, including Azerbaijan.

Last week, however, the Prime Minister signaled the need for a referendum without a clear period. The idea is not new, amid Azerbaijan’s continued demands to change the constitution last year to develop a new draft constitution until the end of 2026.

In his speech at the UN Human Rights Council, the Armenian Foreign Minister spoke of peace. Ararat Mirzoyan noted that the statements from Azerbaijan continue to question Armenia’s territorial integrity, then reaffirmed Yerevan’s commitment to its agenda for peace and stability in the region.
