USA sanction ships and individuals for helping Iran

The United States government announced on Monday (24) sanctions against individuals and ships linked to Iran’s oil industry, resuming its “maximum pressure” strategy against the Islamic regime.

The Pack of Sanctions, coordinated between the State and Treasury Departments, affects 22 individuals and 13 oil ships, according to a statement by the US Treasury spokeswoman Tammy Bruce.

The US identified individuals and vessels as a “Illicit Transport Facilitators Network of Iranian Oil for Buyer Sale in Asia.

According to Washington, the network transported “tens of millions of barrels of oil, valued at hundreds of millions of dollars”, hidden as cargo.

The vessels were declared “property blocked in various jurisdictions”.

“Today’s action represents a first step in achieving the president’s maximum pressure campaign (Donald) Trump over the Iranian regime, interrupting his attempts to increase oil revenues to finance terrorist activities,” said the spokesman.

The US also warned that “they will continue to block these illicit funding sources that support Iran’s activities.”
