The Security Council adopts an American draft resolution on Ukraine with Russian support

The United Nations – (AFP) The UN Security Council adopted Monday, with the support of Russia, a US draft resolution calling for peace in Ukraine as soon as possible, despite the arguments of the European Kiev allies. The decision, which “urges the end of the conflict as soon as possible and calls for permanent peace”, obtained the support of 10 members, including Russia, and the absence of the five remaining members from voting, namely France, Britain, Slovenia, Greece and Denmark. The American Ambassador at the United Nations, Dorothy Xia, described the resolution prepared by its country and the council approved as a “historic agreement.” “We invite all member states to join the United States in pushing a permanent peace,” the ambassador said.
