After children eaten a bat: the new mysterious illness is worrying the world

A mysterious disease took the lives of over 50 people in the northwest of Congo’s Democratic Republic, doctors in the field and the World Health Organization reported yesterday.

According to Dr. Sergei Nagelvato, the medical commissioner at her visit, which serves as a regional monitoring center, the time passing between the appearance of the symptoms and death was 48 hours in most cases. AP.

The last disease in Congo began on January 21 this year, and 419 cases were already documented, of which 53 deaths were already documented. According to the African World Health Organization office, the first eruption in the town of Buluko began after three children ate bat as food, and died within 48 hours following the appearance of symptoms of fever.

The World Health Organization said that following the beginning of the second eruption of the mysterious disease in a Bombati town on February 9, samples were sent from 13 patients to the Biomedical Research Institute in Kinshasa, Congo capital, for testing.

The tests have shown that all the samples are clean of the Ebola virus or other fever diseases like Marburg. In some samples, markers were found to indicate the presence of malaria.

International health experts expressed concern from the rapid pace in which the disease spreads and the high mortality rate. Medical emergency teams from the “Borderless Doctors” and the World Health Organization came to the area to help deal with the outbreak and try to identify the source of the disease.

Congo’s health authorities have taken precautions and led traffic restrictions between the infected localities, calling residents to avoid contact with wildlife and maintain hygiene. In addition, insulation stations were established for the treatment of patients and there were information promotions for local residents.

The Minister of Health of Congo’s Democratic Republic, Jean-Jacques of Bono, stated that the government is in a formula and collaborate with international health organizations to prevent further spread of the disease. “We are fully vigorous to identify the cause of the disease and develop an effective treatment protocol,” said Bongo with a formal statement.

The Congo state has previously faced a number of infectious diseases, including Abula, but this time it is a particularly worrying scenario in light of the fact that the cause of the disease has not yet been identified. Infectious disease experts note that this may be a new zoological disease – a disease that goes from animals to humans.

The World Health Organization has announced that other laboratories around the world assist in analysis of samples with the aim of identifying the person responsible for the disease. In the meantime, the organization recommends avoiding non-essential trips to the infected areas in the northwest Congo until the situation is cleared.
