Media: simultaneously with air strikes, the ground forces of the IDF advanced into the depths of Syria

The Syrian Observator for Human Rights (SOHR) monitoring group reports that the Israeli ground forces were advanced at the same time as the Kuneitra province.

One group of Israeli military, with the support of heavy equipment, moved towards the village of Al-Bakar, between Daraa and Kuneitro, the other group entered the village of Ain El Baida, next to the village of Jabat al-Khashab.

On the night of February 26, the Syrian media reported on the airstrikes applied by the IDF for targets in the suburbs of Damascus and in the south of Syria. The IDF confirmed the fact of strike.

The Arab edition of the Russian news agency Sputnik reported on strong explosions in the south of Syria. The goals were in the Al-Chisua area southwest of Damascus, as well as in the vicinity of the city of Israa in the province of Daraa.

According to The Syrian Observator for Human Rights (Sohr) monitoring group, 4 people were killed as a result of Israeli air strikes in the suburbs of Damascus. The goal of the attack was the headquarters of the first division of the Assad army. In the province of Israa, military facilities belonged to the 112th brigade.

“The concentration of weapons and military units in the southern part of Syria creates a direct threat to the security of Israeli citizens. The IDF will continue to take all the necessary measures to neutralize these threats,” the IDF said.

Israeli Minister of Defense Israel Katz, commenting on the operation, emphasized the strategic purpose of the action: “We will not allow the transformation of the southern regions of Syria into the second version of the Southern Lebanon. Israel decisively stops any attempts at terrorist elements to gain a foothold in this region.”
