US-Russia, “hopes” from the first contacts: Putin’s words

Hopes from the first contacts between the USA and Russia. This was stated by Russian President Vladimir Putin on the day when new talks are held in Istanbul among the American and Russian delegations and nine days after the first meeting in Riad with Washington and Moscow foreign ministers. “We all see how quickly the world is changing, the situation in the world. In this regard, I would like to emphasize that the first contacts with the new American administration inspire a certain hope,” said the Kremlin leader.

“There is a common desire to work to restore relationships,” Putin underlined in a meeting in the FSB headquarters, external intelligence, and returning to denouncing that “some western elites will try to weaken our dialogue”.

Shortly before, it was the spokesman for the Kremlin, Dimitry Peskov, mentioned by Ria Novosti, underlined how the president of the United States Donald Trump is willing to listen to others, unlike his predecessor, Joe Biden. “Trump’s is a very important characteristic that basically distinguishes the current Washington administration from the previous one”, and Moscow realizes it, he added.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergej Lavrov announced yesterday that Washington and Moscow would keep a second round of talks in Turkey, just over a week after the meeting of the delegates of the two countries in Saudi Arabia, which took place on February 18, for their first direct interviews after the Vast Scala of Ukraine.

The meeting in Istanbul will not include discussions on Ukraine, a spokesman for the American State Department told the media. According to Lavrov, he will instead focus on the work of the embassies.
