Ukraine: Zelensky says she does not have to apologize to Donald Trump, and “does not want to lose” American support

After the violent verbal grip on Friday with Donald Trump, who led to the premature departure of Volodymyr Zelensky from the White House, without signing the mineral agreement for which he had made the trip to Washington, the Ukrainian president was questioned a little later on the conservative Fox News channel.

When Bret Baier asked him if he thought he was apologizing to Trump, the Ukrainian leader replied: “No”. “I respect President Trump and I respect the American people,” he added, defending the fact of being “very open and very honest” in their exchanges.

“No one wants to end the war more than us,” said the Ukrainian leader, saying that he hoped that relations with Donald Trump could be repaired. “These are relations that go beyond two presidents, they are strong, strong, between our two peoples,” he continued. According to him, the quarrel is “bad” for Ukraine and the United States.

At the same time, Volodymyr Zelensky stressed the importance of American aid, believing that it will be “difficult” for Ukraine to repel Russia without the support of Washington while Donald Trump threatened to “drop” his country. Support that kyiv does not “want to lose,” he insisted. “We cannot lose our values, our people. We cannot lose our freedom, “he said. He wanted Donald Trump to place himself “really more” on his side, compared to the Russian president Vladimir Putin in negotiations to put an end to the conflict in Ukraine.
