Russia said the President of Ukraine did not want peace

The Kremlin accused President Zelensky did not want to be peaceful, after the Ukrainian leader argued fiery with the US president at the White House.

“He doesn’t want to be peaceful. Someone should make him want peace. If Europe does that, everyone will praise them,” the Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said on March 3, referring to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.

Peskov described the heated argument between Zelensky and US President Donald Trump at the White House on February 28 as “unprecedented event”. He also said that the Ukrainian leader “lacks diplomatic capacity”.

The Kremlin spokesman added President Vladimir Putin has been informed about the meeting, adding that what happened at the White House proves Russia’s views on the conflict is accurate.

According to Peskov, European allies will also have to ease President Trump after the incident. “Someone will have to make significant efforts with Washington so that somehow can eliminate unpleasant echo still in the White House after the meeting with Mr. Zelensky,” Peskov said, adding that with the current situation, “Washington’s own efforts and Moscow’s readiness are not enough”.

After the controversy between Zelensky and Mr. Trump, Ukraine’s European allies held a summit in London to seek to strengthen support and ensure Kiev’s security. The Ukrainian leader said he would work with Europe to set out the terms for the peace agreement if any.

The Kremlin spokesman assesses the current situation “complicated”, adding that “the West has begun to lose part of the collective unity” about Ukraine. He affirmed that peaceful plans were initially outlining, but there was no clear prospect.

Peskov added that Russia continued the campaign in Ukraine “to achieve the goals set out from the beginning”.

Under President Trump, the relationship between the US and Ukraine as well as with European allies occurred many conflicts. The White House owner made Europe discontented when the phone talks with the Russian president to discuss the agreement to end the conflict without consulting with allies or Kiev. The US president also wants Ukraine to give in to reach the agreement with Russia, which Kiev rejected.
