War in Ukraine: Volodymyr Zelensky claims to “arrange things” with Donald Trump

An attempt to appease after a historical altercation? Volodymyr Zelensky said on Tuesday ready to “work under the leadership” of Donald Trump in order to end the war in Ukraine and “to obtain lasting peace”.

Friday, “our meeting in Washington, in the White House, did not go as planned. It is unfortunate that this happened thus, “said the Ukrainian president, saying that” cooperation and communication “said on the social network to be” constructive in the future “.

The United States has several times accused the Ukrainian official of not wanting peace and refusing any negotiation. Again on Monday, the United States vice-president JD Vance said on Fox News that the Ukrainian president had “shown a clear refusal to engage in the peace process”, while ensuring that “the door was open as long as Zelensky is ready to speak seriously about peace”.

As an answer, Volodymyr Zelensky made very concrete proposals on Tuesday: “a truce” in the air and at sea as well as an exchange of prisoners with Russia as “first stages” aimed at “putting an end to war”, triggered by the Russian invasion of Ukraine in February 2022.

“The first steps could be the release of prisoners and a truce in the sky – prohibition of missiles, long -range drones, civilian bombs”, especially energy as well as “a truce at sea immediately, if Russia does the same,” said the Ukrainian president.

The Ukrainian president also reiterated “grateful” for American military aid, a supposed lack of gratitude which had also been criticized by the new strong man of Washington and his advisers. “We really appreciate everything that America has done to help Ukraine maintain its sovereignty and independence. And we remember when things have changed when President Trump provided javelins (American anti -tank missiles) to Ukraine. We are grateful, ”insisted the head of state.

Military aid that the tenant of the White House decided on Monday to break on Monday, causing the concern of Brussels. In the process, the president of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen revealed a plan to “rearm Europe” which must allow her to mobilize nearly 800 billion euros for her defense, and provide immediate assistance to Ukraine.

“A step towards greater security”

Finally, the Ukrainian President said he was ready to sign the planned framework agreement with the United States on the exploitation of Ukrainian mining resources, whose signing was delayed, due to Donald Trump, on the United States. “We consider this agreement as a step towards greater security and solid security guarantees, and sincerely I hope that it will work effectively,” said Volodymyr Zelensky.
