Starmer advocates Trump and Zelenski for continuing to work for a “last and safe” peace in Ukraine

The Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, Keir Starmer, has maintained a new round of contacts with the presidents of the United States and Ukraine, Donald Trump and Volodimir Zelenski, respectively, and has stressed that “it is vital that all parties work for lasting and safe peace” and that it arrives “as soon as possible.”

Starmer spoke with Trump on Monday night, shortly before the decision of his administration to suspend military aid to Ukraine. This Tuesday, Zelenski informed his conversation with the American president, of which details have barely transcended.

The British prime minister has praised the “firm commitment” of the Ukrainian president to work for peace, taking into account that “nobody wants peace more than Ukraine,” reports Downing Street in a statement. Both leaders have agreed to continue “in close contact” in the next few days.

Zelenski was one of the guests at the meeting of European leaders held last Sunday in London and convened as a counterweight to Trump’s diplomatic maelstrom, who after resumeing diplomatic contacts with Moscow faced his Ukrainian counterpart on Friday in a light public discussion in the White House.
