The president of Mexico, Claudia Sheinbaum, has advanced on Wednesday that they will seek to coordinate with Canada and other countries affected by the imposition of Trump administration tariffs to respond together.
“It is a very definitive moment for Mexico,” said the president, who has remarked that there will be no “submission” regardless of how events develop. To continue as until now, he explained, they go “to look for Canada and other countries” also affected by the tariffs of the United States government.
“Mexico is a great country and our economy is fine, but there will be no submission,” said Sheinbaum, lamenting in turn that from some political and media sectors of Mexico they have celebrated this 25 percent tax on exports. “It is very little patriotic,” he struggled during his daily press conference.
After confirming Trump on Tuesday that the tariffs to Mexico and Canada, Sheinbaum and the Canadian Prime Minister, Justin Trudeau, advanced that they would respond with similar measures.
While Sheinbaum still trusts his counterpart in the White House, he has summoned citizens for this Sunday at a public hearing in the Plaza del Zócalo, in Mexico City, to inform them of “the tariff and non -tariff measures” that his government plans to implement.
