The forces of the new Syria regime “cleanse” Latakia and Tartus from armed supporters of Assad

The internal security department of Syria has announced the beginning of the “large -scale operation to comb administrative centers, nearby settlements and mountainous regions.”

Against this background, calls for Assad’s supporters are spreading to lay down weapons.

Recall that the regime of Bashar al-Assad was overthrown on December 8, 2024, when Damascus was seized by the forces of Haiyat Tahrir al-Sham and Proturetsky armed groups. The leader of the Hayyat Tahrir al-Sham organization Abu Muhammad al-Julani (Ahmad al-Sharaa) declared himself as temporary president of Syria and formed a new government.
