Russia criticized the EU ‘militaryization’

“The European Union (EU) is actively discussing the militaryization of the EU and developing the defense segment. This is the process that we will carefully monitor because the EU is determining Russia as the main enemy,” the Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told the press on March 7.

Emphasizing that this is the topic that can cause “deep concern” to Russia, Mr. Peskov said that Moscow is likely to have to take appropriate reaction measures to ensure security, but not specifically.

“The confrontation we are witnessing in Brussels, as well as the capital of European countries, is really contrary to the desire to find a peaceful solution to Ukraine,” said Kremlin spokesman.

The statement was made after EU leaders on March 6 supported the European Commission’s “re -armed” initiative, which mobilized 800 billion euros (US $ 860 billion) for four years to increase the defense capacity of the bloc and support Ukraine.

“Europe must accept the challenge of arms racing and must win. Europe is really capable of winning any military, financial and economical confrontation with Russia. We will be stronger,” Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk said.
