Pro-Palestinian demonstrator from Big Ben arrested

The emergency services were informed of a man who climbed the Elizabeth Tower of the British parliament building around 7.30 am on Saturday morning, the tower on which the Big Ben – the well -known large clock of Westminster – is on. Police and fire brigade arrived and closed the neighborhood.

Three care providers were lifted up with a fire brigade ladder on Saturday afternoon to change the man, but that had no effect. Among other things, he stated that he would only come down “on his own conditions”.

Shortly after Big Ben hit midnight, the climber would have been willing to leave his perilous position, after which he was relieved with the fire brigade ladder.

Photos showed how he sat on the ledge all day with the flag and a traditional Palestinian Keffiyeh scarf around the decorative stone work of the tower. “Free Palestine” and “You Are A Hero”, a small group of supporters shouted behind the Politiekordon at Victoria Embankment.
