Terrorism in Pakistan: 30 separatists killed after hostage -taking

The armed fighters had blown up the railway tracks and stormed the blocked train, explained the BLA. It threatened to “serious consequences” if an exemption of the hostages should be tried. From security circles it was said that some attackers had fled and “took an unknown number of hostages into the surrounding mountainous areas”.

Previously, a government representative had declared that the Pakistani security forces wanted to start a “large -scale” assignment on Wednesday to free the hostages. Prevention measures would be taken to prevent the hostages from hazarding the hosts, said the AFP news agency.

The separatists in turn threatened to kill their hostages. Five of them would have to die every hour, the government should not engage in the demand to released prisoners in exchange for the hostages

Sankish -taking in the poorest region of Pakistan

Belutschistan is located in the southwest of Pakistan on the border with Afghanistan and Iran and is the poorest province in the country. Separatism groups have been fighting against the security forces for decades.

The BLA is the most active armed separatist movement in the Belutschistan region -rich. The militia has intensified its attacks on security forces and residents of neighboring provinces in recent years. According to experts, more than 1,600 people were killed in attacks in Pakistan in 2024.

Terrorists control the passengers

The attacks are often directed against ethnic groups of other provinces to which the separatists accuse of exploiting Belutschistan.

Also at the hostage -taking in Sibi, the AFP news agency learned from eyewitnesses, the attackers asked for the ID cards and searched for people who did not come from the province. “The Punjabis were taken away by the terrorists,” said an eyewitness who wanted to remain anonymous.
