Egypt is said to have made a new proposal for a ceasefire agreement on the Gaza Strip, while Israel continues to air strip.
Reuters On 24/3 quoted the Egyptian security source as saying that officials of the country proposed a new ceasefire in the Gaza Strip from last week, after violence in the area escalated again.
According to Egypt’s plan, Hamas will release 5 Israeli hostages per week, and Israel will perform the second phase of the ceasefire after the first week. Hamas still holds 59 hostages of Israel, of which 24 is considered to be still alive.
According to the sources of news, the proposal of Egypt also includes a timeline for Israel to completely withdraw troops from the Gaza Strip, which is guaranteed by the US, in exchange for hostages.
Security sources said both the United States and Hamas agreed with this proposal, but Israel had not responded.
“Some proposals are being discussed with intermediaries to narrow the gap and resume negotiations, aiming to achieve a common voice to pave the way for the second stages of the ceasefire agreement,” a Hamas official said, though not confirming Egypt’s proposal.

Israel resumed attacks on the Gaza strip from March 18, ending the period of ceasefire lasting two months. Palestinian health officials said new Israeli attacks killed nearly 700 people, including at least 400 women and children. Hamas said some of their senior members were also killed.
Hamas accused Israel in violating the terms of the ceasefire agreement in January, but said he was ready to negotiate a new ceasefire and were studying proposals from Steve Witkoff, a special envoy of US President Donald Trump.
Israel announced its resumption of military activities to force Hamas to release the rest of the hostages, adding that it had done their best to minimize the damage to the civilians, and were skeptical about the number of deaths caused by health officials in the Gaza Strip. Palestinian officials said on March 23 that the number of deaths in Gaza for nearly 18 months of conflict was more than 50,000.
