European Commission President Ursula von der Der Leen expressed its support for Free Europe / Radio on today, noting that it is “a source of independent information for many countries where freedom of speech is endangered.”
“The freedom of the media is needed to the world,” said Von der Lione. “We will work to support the Czech Republic, Austria, Slovenia, Sweden, Belgium, Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia, the Netherlands and Germany.”
Dozens of American lawmakers called on US President Donald Trump to Cancel the USAG MEDIA (USAGM), claiming that the move will have a detrimental effect on its broadcasters, including Russia’s opponents, such as Russia, China, Iran and North Korea.
USAGM has pledged to transfer Freedom to the grant of the Congress to $ 7.46 million from March 1 to March 14. The USAGM has made such a decision on March 24 before the session on the case of “Free Europe / Freedom” radio station.
Free Europe / Radio Radio is founded in 1953, funded by the United States Congress through USAGM.
On March 14, US President Donald Trump signed a decree to reduce seven federal agencies. Among the reduction agencies is the US Global Media Agency.
