The Israel Defense Forces (FDI) and the National Intelligence Service (Shin Bet) have confirmed on Thursday the death of Abdulatif al Qanu, one of the spokesmen of the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas), in a perpetrated attack at dawn over the north of the Gaza Strip, thus ratifying the previous information of the group itself.
The Qanu was not only one of Hamas’s “main instigators”, but also “acted as a terrorist” in the Ezzeldin al Qassam brigades, the military wing of the organization. During his activities he systematically used the media “for propaganda, psychological terrorism and dissemination of false information about Hamas’s activities.”
“For years, Al Qani served as one of the main spokesmen of the terrorist organization and, as part of its function, disseminated lies, prompted terrorist acts and promoted the murderous narrative of the organization aimed at destroying the state of Israel,” said the Israeli army in a statement broadcast on its website.
Finally, both the FDI and the Shin Bet have pledged to continue working to “destroy the government and military capacities of Hamas” in the Gaza Strip, the scene of selective bombardments in recent days that have claimed the lives of several high positions of the Islamist group at the political level.
These information come to confirm the announcement released during the early morning by Hamas, which aimed that Al Qanu had died as a result of a bombing perpetrated by the IDF on their tent in Yabalia, in the north of the Gaza Strip. “We cried the martyrdom of the spokesman for the movement,” said the group in a statement.
The balance of dead Palestinians because of Israel’s attacks against the Gaza Strip since March 18, when the fire broke and reactivated its offensive against the enclave, has increased to more than 850, as the Gazati authorities have denounced, which indicate that the total number of deaths since the beginning of the Israeli operation already exceeds 50,200, with almost 114,000 injuries.
