The International Committee of the Red Cross: “We are shocked by the murder of doctors and rescuers in Gaza”

The International Red Cross Committee announced that the bodies of eight volunteers of the organization who missed on March 23 were discovered in the Gaza sector. Together with them, the bodies of several rescuers of civil defense and the UN employee were found.

The statement states that the bodies of the dead are identified and prepared for burial.

“The ICRC decisively condemns attacks on health workers. The death of an employee of the humanitarian mission or medical team is not only a tragedy for his loved ones, but also deprives hope of helping the wounded and sick. The ICRC repeats all the information to clarify the fate of those who are still considered missing,” the statement said.

The ICRC also emphasizes that international humanitarian law strictly prohibits attacks on medical personnel, ambulances and rescuers who are under the protection of the Geneva Conventions.
