Spain: At least five deaths at explosion in mine

Madrid – Deadly drama in one Coal mining in Spain! Five people died in an explosion on Monday. In the northwestern region of Asturia (Spain), four workers were seriously injured in the mine in Degaña in the northwestern region of Asturia (Spain). According to the emergency services, two more survived the accident unharmed. Nobody is missing anymore.

The cause of the Explosion in Spain was initially unclear. The Ambulance service was first informed about an “incident” in the mine. Later he was informed that “there was a problem with a machine”. Local media reported that the machine had exploded.

The seriously injured were in Hospitals brought to surrounding cities, two of them with helicopters. They suffered burns and in one case a head injury.

Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez expressed his condolences to the families of the victims and wished the injured a “quick recovery”. He thanked the rescue workers for their commitment. Asturia’s regional president Adrián Barbón excluded two days of mourning.

Mining has been an important industry in Asturias for centuries. In 1995, 14 people died in an explosion in a mine near the city of Mieres.
