The Israel Defense Forces (FDI) have confirmed on Thursday that more than 250 members of the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas), including a dozen high positions, have died victims of Israeli attacks since the army decided to resume the offensive against the Gaza Strip in early March.
As the Arabic spokesman for the Israeli army, Avichai Adrai, said the Israeli forces have carried out attacks against some 600 infrastructure linked to Hamas, and has killed dozens of terrorists who participated in the Palestinian offensive of October 7, 2023, trigger for the current regional war.
“In recent days, we have passed to a new phase of the Pride and Sword operation, at the service of the objectives of returning to the kidnapped soldiers and destroying the military and governmental capabilities of Hamas,” said Adrai, which advocates to maintain “operational ambiguity” to surprise Hamas.
Hamas launched an unprecedented offensive against Israeli territory on October 7, 2023, leaving a balance of more than 1,200 dead and 240 hostages. Israel’s army responded with a bloody military offensive that to date leaves more than 50,500 Palestinians dead, mostly civilians although also thousands of terrorists.
The parties reached a high fire agreement that after just a few weeks-which did serve to exchange 33 hostages for hundreds of Palestinian prisoners-jumped through the air with the resumption of attacks by Israel, which accuses Hamas of not being committed to the agreed.
Since then Israel’s attacks on the Gaza Strip have occurred and, according to local authorities, controlled by Hamas, the balance of fatalities already exceeds 1,250 dead and 2,700 injured. According to the balance confirmed by Adrai, less than a quarter of the dead would be members of Hamas.
