The Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, Keir Starmer, has acknowledged that “nobody” can be satisfied with the tariffs imposed by the president of the United States, Donald Trump, but has called to be “pragmatic” and maintain “calm”, which also happens by adopting measures that can “pieces” the bilateral relationship.
“The United States is a narrow partner of the United Kingdom,” Starmer insisted on Monday, during a visit to a car plant by Jaguar Land Rover from which he has eluded a question about a possible cancellation of the state visit that Trump is pending-the second after which he already made in his first mandate-, reports Sky News.
Thus, Starmer has advocated “the challenges that tariffs have undoubtedly put on the table”, but at the same time he stressed that “it is a time to have a cold head.” The British ‘Premier’ has alluded to several times in recent days to the free trade agreement pending with the United States, a horizon without a fixed temporal frame.
Jaguar Land Rover, one of the main British manufacturers, has already announced during the weekend that he would paralyze his shipments to the United States waiting to clarify the new commercial rules.
