PMC “Wagner” announced that she had fulfilled the “main mission” in Mali and leaves this country. It is reported by “Medusa”, quoting the telegram channel “Wagner Unloading” close to the mercenaries.
The post says that the mercenaries for three and a half years “shoulder to shoulder with the people of Mali fought against terrorism.”
“We destroyed thousands of militants and their commanders who have terrorized the civilian population for years. We helped the local patriots create a strong and disciplined army capable of protecting their land. And we fulfilled the main task – all regional capitals returned to the control of legal authority. The mission was completed. Wagner’s PMC is returning home,” the post says.
The first messages that Wagner’s PMC is gaining mercenaries to work in Mali appeared in the media in September 2021. Then, as a result of the coupling, Colonel Assimi Goit came to power, after which more than five thousand French troops were withdrawn there from the country. According to the Western media, the mercenaries had to train the Mali military and to protect high -ranking officials. The Russian Foreign Ministry actually confirmed the deal, while emphasizing that the Russian authorities have nothing to do with it.
The ALL Eyes on Wagner project published a report on the first year of the Wagner PMC in Mali. It also spoke about mass killings, rape, robberies and attacks on civilians.
In the summer of 2024, between the rebels, on the one hand and the government troops of Mali and the Wagnerians, on the other hand, a battle occurred. During the battles, government troops and Wagnerians were ambushed. According to various sources, from 20 to 80 mercenaries died.
