The chairman of the Palestinian National Administration, Mahmoud Abbas, welcomed the statement of the heads of government, Canada and Australia on the formal recognition of the Palestinian state.
“The recognition of the right of Palestinians to freedom and independence will pave the way to realize the principle of two states, and will allow Palestine and Israel to exist in the world, security and good neighborly relations with Israel,” the Maan agency quotes the statement.
“The president emphasized the need to cease fire, the allowance of humanitarian assistance, the release of all hostages and prisoners, the complete exit of Israel from Gaza, its transition to the responsibility of the state of Palestine, the beginning of the restoration, termination of settlement and terrorism of settlers,” the statement said.
