General Secretary To Lam’s visit to the UK achieved many results, the highlight of which was upgrading bilateral relations, according to Foreign Minister Le Hoai Trung.
Foreign Minister Le Hoai Trung today said that General Secretary To Lam’s official visit to the UK on October 28-30 is one of Vietnam’s important foreign affairs activities in 2025, helping to affirm the stature of Vietnam – UK relations in the overall foreign policy of each country, especially in the current context of a volatile and challenging world.
“The visit was a great success, with many important activities achieving many effective and substantive results,” he said.
The highlight of the visit was that Vietnam and the UK agreed establish a comprehensive strategic partnershipthe highest relationship level in Vietnam’s partnership framework system.

During the visit, agencies, organizations and businesses of both sides agreed, signed many agreements important cooperation, with substantive and specific content, in many new fields, meaningful to the development of the two countries.
British leaders and partners expressed their impression of Vietnam’s achievements in all aspects attaches great importance to Vietnam’s position and role in the Asia-Pacific region as well as on many issues of concern to the international community.
General Secretary To Lam’s policy speech at Oxford University received special attention and appreciation from British policy researchers, considering it an important contribution to clarifying Vietnam’s foreign policy of independence, self-reliance, peace, cooperation and development.
The visit also contributed enhance Vietnam’s position in Europe and at multilateral forums and mechanisms in Europe, and actively contribute to promoting the role of ASEAN, as well as ASEAN – Europe relations. The position of the Party and the country in the international arena continues to be strengthened, creating a basis for further strengthening relations with partners in the coming time.
General Secretary To Lam’s visit to the UK also contributed promote emotions bond between the Vietnamese people and the British people, as well as the spirit of solidarity and attachment of Vietnamese people in the UK.
In the context of complicated international developments, Vietnam has a comprehensive strategic partnership framework with all five permanent members of the United Nations Security Council, bringing the total number of comprehensive strategic partnerships to 14, contributing to consolidating a favorable foreign affairs situation for the country and enhancing the Party’s position.

According to Minister Le Hoai Trung, Vietnam will work with the UK to effectively implement the results of the visit, especially the Joint Declaration on establishing a comprehensive strategic partnership, promoting the development of a Joint Action Plan to concretize the Joint Declaration; continue to effectively implement previously reached agreements.
The above process focuses on focuses including enhancing political trust between the two countries; promote proposals and initiatives in cooperation between the UK’s strengths and Vietnam’s needs; Strengthen connections, closely coordinate and strengthen roles in international and regional forums; Implement measures to improve the efficiency of important work aspects.
