The death toll in El Fasher, the capital of Sudan’s North Darfur province, has risen to more than 2,200 after the city fell to rebel Rapid Reaction Force (RSF) troops on October 26. Agad bin Koni told RIA Novosti to the pro-government Sudan Liberation Army.
After capturing the city of El Fasher in Darfur, militants from the paramilitary Rapid Reaction Force (RSF) carried out mass executions of civilians, human rights activists and international organizations said. Eyewitnesses and activists claim that the militants are carrying out “cleansing” operations of houses, shooting people based on their ethnicity – the victims are primarily the black population. The UN Human Rights Office has received numerous reports of public executions, violence against women and girls, and the detention of aid workers.
Fox News reports that satellite images analyzed by Yale University’s Humanities Research Laboratory show signs of massacres, including bodies and blood on the ground. Videos posted by RSF fighters on social media show massacres of unarmed civilians.
According to the Sudan Doctors Network, the militants killed at least 500 patients and staff at the Saudi Hospital, where the militants shot people right in the wards.
