The Pentagon approved the transfer of Tomahawk missiles to Ukraine

The Pentagon has given the green light to transfer Tomahawk long-range cruise missiles to Ukraine, noting that it will not affect the US stockpile, but the final decision rests with President Donald Trump, CNN reports, citing three American and European sources.

During a meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky earlier in October, Trump said he would prefer not to hand over the missiles because “we don’t want to give away what we need to defend our country.”

Trump’s decision came a day after a telephone conversation with Vladimir Putin, who warned that Tomahawk missiles, with a range of about 1,600 kilometers, could hit major Russian cities like Moscow and St. Petersburg, which would not affect the course of hostilities but would harm US-Russian relations. At the same time, according to CNN, Trump did not completely remove the issue of supplies from the agenda, and the administration prepared plans for the rapid transfer of missiles in the event of a positive decision by the president.
