Two US National Guard agents shot in shootout near White House

At least two National Guard agents have been injured in a shooting that took place this Wednesday in the United States capital, Washington DC, near the White House building, the official residence of US President Donald Trump.

The governor of West Virginia, Patrick Morrisey, initially said through his profile on the social network

“We will provide additional updates once we receive more complete information,” he added. It is worth mentioning that the publication in which the Republican reported his death has been shared by the White House.

Minutes earlier, Trump, who is currently in Florida to celebrate Thanksgiving at his Mar-a-Lago mansion, declared that “the animal that shot the two national guardsmen, both seriously injured and now admitted to two different hospitals, is also seriously injured.”

Likewise, he has expressed through Truth Social that, “regardless of this, he will pay a very high price.” “God bless our Great National Guard and all our military and law enforcement forces,” he said.

For its part, the Washington DC Police, which has indicated that the incident took place just a block away from the White House complex, has indicated that “a suspect is in custody.” However, he has not given more details in this regard, so the causes of the event are unknown.

National Guard troops from several states have been in Washington for months as part of the Trump Administration’s anti-crime offensive in the capital, which it has expanded to other cities across the country.
